Player Season Stats

Pape Matar Sarr continued to impress in 2024/25.

The Senegal midfielder featured in 54 of our 60 matches in all competitions, weighing in with six goals. That took him past the century mark for the club since making his debut for us in January, 2023.

There were key contributions as well - not least an assist that will live for us forever - his cross turned home by Brennan Johnson for the winner in the UEFA Europa League Final against Manchester United - Pape's all-action style and running power key to victory that night in Bilbao.

Pape scored twice in the early rounds of the UEL, once in our 2-1 win against City in the League Cup and added another three in the Premier League, including goals in our away wins at Southampton and Brentford.

At the end of 2024/25, Pape was up to 104 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

Pape joined us in August, 2021, from Metz.

He joined Metz from the Generation Foot Academy in Senegal in September, 2020. He made his debut against Brest in Ligue 1 in November and went on to make 25 appearances in 2020/21, 22 in Ligue 1, three in the Coupe de France, scoring four times. After joining us, subsequently returned on loan to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the 2021/22 season, where he made 27 appearances.

Pape made his breakthrough in 2022/23 with 14 appearances (five starts) in all competitions. He made his debut off the bench against Villa on New Year's Day, 2023, quickly followed by his full debut in our FA Cup win against Portsmouth in January, 2023 and then stepped out again alongside Oliver Skipp in cauldron of the San Siro for our UEFA Champions League Round of 16, first leg in February - the pair earning praise for their performances in central midfield.

The all-action midfielder came to the fore in 2023/24, appearing in 35 of our 41 matches in all competitions, including 34 (27 starts) in the Premier League, where he also contributed three goals and three assists. Pape hit it off alongside Yves Bissouma in midfield, not least in our superb, unbeaten start to the campaign, where we won eight of our first 10 matches. Pape enjoyed a moment to remember early in the season when he struck his first Spurs goal to open the scoring in our 2-0 win against Manchester United, Ange Postecoglou's first home game in charge. His three league goals all came in wins against United, Bournemouth and Brighton.

His performances earned a new deal in January that will run until 2030.

Pape made his senior international debut for Senegal in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in March, 2021. He was also part of the Senegal squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in February, 2022, and participated at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He was part of the squad that reached the last 16 of the 2024 AFCON. Part of Senegal's AFCON squad in January 2025, Pape was also on the shortlist for the CAF Player of the Year. At the end of 2024/25, Pape had earned 35 caps.
