Spurs vs Leicester City (WSL) | Our strong record over Foxes in WSL

Sat 10 January 2026, 09:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Our opening game of 2026 sees us take on Leicester City in a Barclays Women’s Super League clash at Brisbane Road – and we pose a strong record against our opponents ahead of Sunday’s encounter.

With a record of seven wins and two draws in our previous nine meetings, we’ve yet to suffer defeat to the Foxes in the league since their promotion in 2021, a run that sees our joint-most wins in the competition over any opponents (Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United also on seven).

Both sides met in the opening WSL game of 2025 which saw us run out 1-0 winners at Brisbane Road, a scoreline that has seen us come out on top in our last four home games.

And scoring first in the contest could be a key factor in the final outcome as we’re on a 31-game unbeaten streak in games when we’ve taken the lead – only Chelsea (34) and Arsenal (32) are on longer runs in the WSL.

The Foxes come into the new year off the back of a strong victory over newly-promoted London City Lionesses, with Rick Passmoor’s side currently ninth on nine points.

Shannon O’Brien’s strike proved to be the difference against the Lionesses and the forward has scored the Foxes’ last three goals in the competition, with those coming in her previous four outings.

Here are some other headline stats, courtesy of Opta, ahead of our encounter in E10 this weekend…

  • We’re unbeaten in our last three WSL games (W1 D2), last going four without defeat between December, 2024, and January, 2025. We’ve already won as many points in 2025-26 as we did in 2024/25 (20 in each).
  • Leicester City picked up their second league win of the season on MD11 against London City Lionesses (1-0) and will be aiming to win back-to-back Women’s Super League matches for the first time since October, 2023.
  • Only Manchester City (18) have won more points at home in the WSL this season than us (13 – P6 W4 D1 L1), as we are unbeaten in our last four at home (W3 D1), our longest streak in a Women’s Super League campaign since 2021/22 (7).
  • Leicester City remain on the longest ever winless streak away from home in the Women’s Super League (P21 D7 L14), with their last win on the road coming in their first away match of 2024 vs Everton. The Foxes are also the only side to play more than eight times in London as an away side without winning in the WSL (P19 D3 L16).
  • Leicester City have scored just a single first half goal in 11 WSL games so far this season, the joint-fewest at the halfway stage of a 12-team campaign alongside Liverpool in 2019-20 (also one), who scored after 14 minutes in their 12th match.
  • Bethany England has scored in each of her last three Women’s Super League starts, only scoring in four straight for us once before in the WSL, doing so between March and May, 2024.
