Dominic Solanke's scorpion kick aside, Xavi Simons' influence was key to our 2-2 comeback draw with Manchester City as he achieved a Premier League best passing stat across the 2025/26 season to date.
The creative talent helped drag the team back into the game with a superb trivela pass in behind the defence to set Dom free and the striker applied the finish to halve the deficit eight minutes after half-time.
And that defence-splitting pass to break the opposition's backline was one of five our number seven made during the contest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which is the most of any player in a single Premier League game so far this term.
As our number 19 went on to steal the headlines with his goal of the season contender to equalise in the 70th minute, Xavi's overall midfield numbers underline his importance on proceedings as the Dutch international ended with the most touches (84), most duels won (10), most possessions won (seven), most successful dribbles (five), most successful take-ons (four), most chances created (four) and most fouls won (four).
Having delivered a Player of the Match performance in our 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League one game prior, the in-form midfielder was excellent once again and came so close to the winner when Gianluigi Donnarumma tipped over his deflected effort on 75 minutes.
Now 29 appearances into his Spurs career, Xavi played the full match for the seventh game running in all competitions and has been the heartbeat of the side in recent weeks with some eye-catching and committed displays in Lilywhite.
