Summanen on becoming a Spurs centurion: “I’m just grateful to be able to achieve that”

Eveliina Summanen feels a sense of pride as she etched her name into the Club’s history book last weekend.

Starting in our comeback win over West Ham United in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, the Finland international, who joined us in January, 2022, rightly became part of the ‘100 Club’, reaching a century of appearance for the Club.

A consistent performer in the heart of our midfield since she made the move to north London midway through the 2021/22 campaign, the 27-year-old has consistently worn the Lilywhite shirt with plenty of heart and passion, week in, week out.

So, when asked about her thoughts on achieving this milestone at the Club, there was no surprise that Eve couldn’t stop beaming with pride.

I feel I have grown into the league, the team and the club and I love putting on and wearing the Spurs shirt.

Speaking in an exclusive interview in the matchday programme for Sunday’s derby against Chelsea, our number 25 said: “Of course, it means a lot. It’s a big achievement to reach 100 appearances for Spurs and I’m just grateful to be able to achieve that.

“Obviously, I dreamed about it, but I never expected it. So, now, it’s amazing that it has become a reality. I feel I have grown into the league, the team and the club and I love putting on and wearing the Spurs shirt.

“Being at a big club like Spurs, I was able to settle in and then grow into the role I have now. I feel like I’ve come a long way and I’ve had amazing team-mates and staff, as well as different cultures, helping me become a better player and who I am now.”
