Igor Tudor said he ‘saw something’ in terms of foundations to build on but took a realistic view of our 4-1 loss against Arsenal in his first game in charge on Sunday.
There were certainly signs something special could be on the cards in this latest north London derby when Randal Kolo Muani levelled Eberechi Eze’s opener within two minutes to take us into half-time level.
However, hopes of a second half to remember were quickly dashed by Viktor Gyokeres’ strike for 2-1 two minutes into the second half. Eze and Goykeres added a second each as the Gunners ran out 4-1 winners.
Speaking to us after his first taste of matchday in N17 and the NLD, Igor said: “I saw something, but there is still a lot of work to do. There are too many problems for this kind of team, so we need to keep working from tomorrow, from Tuesday, more than we did until now. At this moment, this is how it is. So, this kind of team, it’s too much at this moment to play against them.”
Asked about his first experience in the stadium, he said: “It was amazing. I feel the good energy, so that's why we are all sad. I'm sad because we couldn't do better performance. They (the fans) want it, we want it, we tried, but in this moment we are not able to do better.”
