Cathinka Tandberg hasn’t stopped smiling since joining Spurs last month – and she had no reason to stop after inspiring us to a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
A summer arrival from Hammarby IF, ‘Tinka’ has certainly made an impact in her early days in the Barclays Women’s Super League and she was influential once again against the Seagulls, slotting home Jess Naz’s teasing cross on 26 minutes to finish off a lovely move at Brisbane Road.
That goal proved to be the match winner in the end as the Norway international’s fine start to life in England continues, taking her tally to three goals in five games while also being nominated for the WSL’s Player of the Month award for September.
“I told her I’m always on the back post, so just cross it and I’ll be there!” the striker beamed with a smile, reflecting on her all-important goal. “It was a very good cross and a very good goal.”
And Head Coach Martin Ho’s impressive start in the WSL also continues as the victory over Brighton now sees us climb to third in the current standings and just one point behind league leaders Chelsea at this stage – who we meet on Sunday at Kingsmeadow.
“It means a lot,” Tinka told us, reflecting on another three points in the league. “For us, for the Club. It’s three very important points and this gives us an extreme boost to keep working forward.
“I think you can see I’m loving it [at Spurs]. Of course, when I’m scoring goals, that’s what I’m here for. We’ve been training for that and when it fits in the game, it’s so important - for me as well. It’s so nice.”
