Heung-Min Son has made history on the international stage by becoming South Korea's most-capped player on Friday afternoon.
Captaining his nation in a home friendly against Richarlison's Brazil, the South Korean star earned his 137th cap to surpass the record previously jointly-held with Cha Bum-kun and current head coach Hong Myung-bo.
Earning 91 of those appearances during his decade at Spurs, our former skipper departed for Los Angeles FC over the summer after making 454 appearances in our colours - sixth on our all-time list - scoring 173 goals and cementing his Club legend status by leading the side to UEFA Europa League glory last term.
With both countries already confirmed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the conclusion of their qualifying campaigns, Korea hosted Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil who ran out 5-0 winners with two goals each from Estevao and Rodrygo plus one from Vinicius Junior. Richy earned his 53rd cap when he entered the action with his nation five goals up on 79 minutes.
On what was a landmark occasion for Sonny in front of a home crowd at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, the 33-year-old talisman is set to feature in his fourth World Cup with next summer's tournament to be played across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Up next for Richy is another friendly in Asia as the Seleção take on Japan in the capital city of Tokyo on 14 October (11.30am UK).
