Ella Morris has earned a maiden call-up to the senior England squad for this month’s UEFA Women’s Nations League matches against Spain and Portugal.
Joining us from Southampton last summer, the young defender was disrupted by injuries during her start to life in north London but, since returning from a MCL injury in February, she has been a shining light in her debut campaign in the Women's Super League.
The 22-year-old started our last eight games in England’s top flight, completing every single minute in that run, and scored her first goal for the Club in the league clash with Aston Villa last month.
Her strong run of performances in our colours has now been recognised after England boss Sarina Wiegman named her in the senior squad this morning (13 May) for upcoming Nations League fixtures.
Ella, who has been a regular for England at Under-23s level, becomes just the third player to earn a first call-up into the Lionesses' squad while playing for us.
Currently second in Group 3 (League A), Wiegman’s side will welcome Portugal to Wembley Stadium on Friday 30 May (7.45pm UK) before travelling to RCDE Stadium on Tuesday 3 June (6pm UK) to take on Spain.
These set of fixtures will also be preparation for the upcoming UEFA Women's EURO 2025 Finals which begin on Wednesday 2 July in Switzerland, with defending champions England in Group D alongside France, Wales and the Netherlands.
