Heung-Min Son says he ‘feels good’ and is ready for our UEFA Europa League Final against Manchester United in Bilbao on Wednesday night (8pm UK) after a 74-minute stint against Aston Villa on Friday.

The skipper was back in the starting line-up for the first time since the first leg of our UEL quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt on 10 April. He returned off the bench for 30 minutes against Palace last week after missing seven matches in a month out with a foot injury.

Sonny looked sharp in the Premier League clash at Villa Park, particularly with a couple of eye-catching bursts down the left in the first half. In one, he left Boubacar Kamara behind him over 50 yards, another he cut in and fired just over. He eventually departed just after Kamara fired home Villa’s second goal on 73 minutes, the home side taking the lead through Ezri Konza on 59 minutes as Villa secured a 2-0 win.

All eyes now turn to Bilbao and Sonny, approaching 10 years and now with 453 appearances for the club in all competitions, 70 in Europe, is ready to play his part.

Speaking to our Review Show from Villa Park, Sonny told us: “I feel good, a little tired, first game back, but physically I feel good and ready to go,” he said. “Today, 70 minutes, it was good to get that game time in my legs. Crystal Palace as well, when I came on and played 25, 30 minutes last week. The most important thing is everybody got fit for Wednesday. I’ll be ready for Wednesday.”

Sonny on the performance at Villa...

“Before we conceded a goal, it felt like we did very well. Those are the details that change the game. Look, Villa Park has never been an easy place to come, but the commitment, hard work and effort were all there, that’s also important, but we’re disappointed with the result.”

Sonny on being sidelined for a month...

"It’s been very tough to watch and not be involved. It’s one of the tough moments when you’re not actually there. The lads did a fantastic job. I was very happy because the hard work has paid off, and I was so happy to see the boys celebrating. They deserved that. The job is not finished. We have a massive job on Wednesday to do that. I believe we can do it."

Sonny on the final...

“As I said, our objective is to get a result on Wednesday, so let’s get everyone together on Wednesday, from now on, everyone together, one goal, together it will happen.”
