Dominic Solanke and Bethany England have been selected to receive our men’s and women’s PFA Community Champion awards for the 2024/25 season.
The PFA Community Champion is an annual award given to every Premier League, English Football League and Women’s Super League club to highlight players who have led the way in supporting community initiatives.
Dom has been recognised for demonstrating support for members of our community across several areas since joining the club last summer. The forward celebrated education pathways for aspiring footballers at a tournament organised for participants on our Education and Football Development Centres, surprised a young fan who won a Show Racism the Red Card art competition by giving her a tour of our Training Centre, and was one of several players to give a generous donation of hygiene products as part of our Christmas Multibank appeal.
Bethany receives the award for the second year running after showing exemplary support across a range of initiatives. She has been a passionate supporter of Tottenham Hotspaw - the first Official Supporters’ Club for dog owners to join alongside their beloved pets - by visiting the kennels of the initiative’s charitable partner, All Dogs Matter, on several occasions, even giving a call out on social media for blankets and bedding before Christmas, which led to a series of donations to keep the dogs warm over winter. She was also part of the group who welcomed five of the charity’s ‘ambassa-dogs’ during a meet & greet at our Training Centre in August.
Bethany met with children and families at our official charity partner Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice ahead of the women’s north London derby in November, which was dedicated to the charity. She also made a delivery of toys to vulnerable children in Enfield as part of our traditional programme of community support around Christmas.
Maheta Molango, CEO Professional Footballers’ Association, said: “The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community.
“The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest. We would like to offer our congratulations to this season’s recipients of the 2024/25 PFA Community Champion Award.”
