Kevin Danso and Guglielmo Vicario - back in his home town of Udine, Italy - gave their thoughts on our heartbreaking penalty shoot-out loss against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup having led 2-0 with five minutes to go at Stadio Friuli.

Here's what they had to say...

Kevin Danso

"I feel like we executed the game plan really well. We wanted to be direct, cause them problems with every set piece because we knew we would be superior, and that’s exactly what we did. We limited them to few chances, even though they had loads of the ball, and when you play against one of the best teams in the world, they are going to have a lot of the ball, but I feel like we limited them to a few chances.

"We were effective when we got in their box, caused them all sorts of problems, went 2-0 up and at the end, to concede two goals is bitter, and then when it goes to a penalty shoot-out it can go either way, unfortunately it didn’t go our way tonight.

"When you play against such a quality team with amazing players it’s always difficult, you have to be defensively strong for 90 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite do that, but because we scored two goals it ended in a draw and went to penalties. That can go either way and I’m really upset, really disappointed it didn’t go our way."

Guglielmo Vicario

"Now, it's tough, but I think we did what we wanted to do, we applied our plan and it worked. Now, it hurts, because we were very close, but football sometimes is very hard. I'm very proud of this team. We battled the Champions League champions, and they had to suffer, because probably they didn't expect us to be as physical, every duel. They have big players, a lot of qualities, today they had to battle, and to score in the 94th minute to equalise, of course, now it's tough to accept.

"I'm so proud of these boys. We were very close. Now, it's tough.

"There are a lot of positives in every aspect of the game. Of course, now it's hard... the emotions... there are too many. It's hard to describe. I'm very proud because we did it all together, almost perfectly.

"It was almost perfect. I was very close to making my dream come true (at home *in Udine), but I couldn't. It's so tough, but it is what it is."
